Rangpur to face Comilla in crucial encounter

The galleries of Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) will come alive once again with the roars of the enthusiastic and passionate crowd as Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will come back to the home base at SBNCS in the capital today with Rangpur Riders taking on Comilla Victorians on 1:00pm and Dhaka Dynamites face off Rajshahi Kings later on 6:00pm.

The money spinning tournament is slowly coming to the final phase as the teams start to scramble for points as they look to position themselves on the top four of the table. With only 8 matches remaining in the league stages, the remaining game can make it or break it for the teams in their quest for glory.

In the first match of the day the might of Rangpur Riders will be matched by table topper Comilla Victorians in the all-important clash as both the teams have played 1 match less than the other teams and the winner will get significant advantage in the final equations of the point table.

Tigerheart Mashrafe Mortaza inspired Rangpur Riders have presented the audience of BPL with some nerve-wreaking thrillers.

Mashrafe with his leading from the front and by example attitude has amassed 107 runs in the tournament among which most of them came during his match winning knock against Chittagong Vikings with a 17 ball 42 runs innings.

Rangpur will look to put serious pressure on Comillla up top with the Man Mountain Chris Gayle and Brendon McCullum.

The destructive Chris Gayle will look forward to continuing his amazing six hitting form whereas McCullum might have to bat himself to form in this crucial part of the tournament.

Comilla Victorians on the other hand will also look to this encounter with grave importance as a win in this match will help them cement their spot on the top of the table. The Victorians will come to the field with a well-balanced and reasonably confident team. Their bowling attack have been phenomenal in curbing the havoc batters are known to ensue in the 20 overs format of the game.

Rashid Khan with his bewildering leg-spin has been lethal in BPL 2017, to say the least. Taking 10 wickets in the competition so far, he will look to strangle Rangpur top-order. Pakistan veteran Shoaib Malik will also add to the woes of the opponent with his diverse range of capabilities.

Nonetheless, they will have to be wary in their use of Al Amin as he has been suspected for illegal bowling action.

Later on the day, Dhaka Dynamites will look to match their swords with that of Rajshahi Kings at the same venue.

Dhaka Dynamites will look to hammer Rajshahi Kings to retain and strengthen their position at the top four. World’s best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will have to bear the burden of spearheading Dhaka’s bowling attack alongside the scintillating left handed pacer Mohammad Amir.  Shakib has been the top wicket taker for Dhaka with 17 wickets to his name. Young Bangladesh pacer Abu Haider has also fared well with 12 wickets.

Shahid Afridi is also poised to be a great asset against Rajshahi Kings with his more than useful leg-breaks and explosive batting.

On the other side of the isle, the spirited Darren Sammy led Rajshahi Kings have started to find their momentum just at the right time of the tournament.

With evergreen speedster Mohammad Sami rediscovering his age old pace, Rajshahi Kings have a lot to be hopeful for. Rajshahi Kings have been putting their faith on local youngsters and the young tigers have delivered according to their promise.

In their match against Chittagong Vikings, they seized the encounter courtesy of a brilliant bowling display by Qazi Anik picking up 4 wickets for just 17 runs in his debut BPL match. Likewise national team regular Mominul Hoque and his senior colleague Mushfiqur Rahim are also contributing to the delight of the team management.
