A couple died from snakebite in remote Char Biswa Nath village under Tepamadhupur union of Kawnia upazila in Rangpur district in the early hours of Monday.
Quoting Chairman of Tepamadhupur union parisahd Shafikul Islam BSS said, "The deceased were identified as Mohammad Ali, 65, and his wife Monwara Begum Manira, 55, of the same village."
Quoting family sources and local villagers, Chairman Shafikul Islam said a poisonous cobra bite Mohammad Ali and Monwra at 3 am while they were sleeping in their house.
Monwra died at home while the doctor on-duty declared Mohammad Ali dead after he was taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH).
Officer-in-Charge of Kawnia Thana Mamunur Rashid has confirmed the incident.
