Both the matches of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) were abandoned without a single ball being bowled at the Shar-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday due to rain.
Match officials called off the day’s first match between Sylhet Sixers and Khulna Titans at 3:30pm due to drizzle after waiting for about two and half an hours.
Like the first match, the 2nd one between Dhaka Dynamites and Chittagong Vikings was also abandoned at 6:58pm for the same reason after waiting for about one hour.
There was so much rain for so long in the afternoon that there was not much chance of play anyway. And with more rain falling, it was always going to be a tough task to get a sodden outfield ready for play on a gloomy evening in the capital.
After the day’s debacle, Dhaka Dynamites clinched the top slot securing seven points from five matches with a run rate of +1.971 despite of slow start in the meet while Sylhet Sixers, which made brilliant start on home soil winning the first three matches, followed the leader neck and neck with seven points from six matches having -0.610 run rate.
On the other hand, Chittagong Vikings advanced to the 5th slot in seven-team fray securing three points from five matches with one win, one no result and three defeats.
