1,000 more Rohingyas enter Bangladesh

Around 1,000 more Rohingyas entered Bangladesh through several border points in Teknaf and Ukhia upazilas on Friday crossing the Naf River by boats and rafts.


Officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station Md Moinuddin Khan said at least 800 Myanmar nationals made their way into Bangladesh through border points in Teknaf by boats and rafts made of plastic jars and bamboos.


Dr AKM Iqbal Hossain, Police Super of Cox’s Bazar, said some 200 Rohingyas entered Bangladesh through Inani sea beach in Ukhia upazila in the evening.


He said they arrested a boatman for allegedly carrying Rohingyas from Myanmar for exchange of excessive money.


The arrested was identified as Abdur Mazed, 35, a resident of Senpara village in Ukhia.
