The cabinet has approved the calendar for next year which includes 22 days of public holiday, seven of which poise on weekends.
The decision was endorsed in Monday’s regular cabinet meeting held at Prime Minister’s Office.
The meeting was presided over by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Fourteen public holidays are general holidays, Cabinet Secretary Shafiul Alam said in a briefing. Among them, four holidays have coincided with weekends.
Additionally, there are eight holidays on executive orders, three of which have coincided with Fridays and Saturdays – general weekends in Bangladesh.
