RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi University has formed two committees to investigate a reported question leak in management department and an assault on the department chairman by his colleagues.
The decision was made in the university 473th syndicate meeting with vice-chancellor M Abdus Sobhan in the chair on Tuesday evening.
Two syndicate members said two three-member committees were formed.
The first committee, headed by history department teacher Chitta Ranjan Misra, would investigate the allegations of question leak of a semester final exam of evening master’s degree under management department. The exam was timetabled to be held on December 03, 2016. The others members of the committee are law department professor Hasibul Alam Prodhan and economics department associate professor ASM Rezaul Karim Bakshi.
Another body, led by political science professor Aminur Rahman, would investigate an alleged assault on the department chair over the question leak allegation.
The two other members of the committee were philosophy department professor SM Abu Bakar and social work department associate Professor Rabiul Islam, the syndicate members confirmed.
The department sources said following the question leak, others teachers held professor Saiful Islam responsible for the offence; and forced the then department chairman Jinnat Ara Begum to call an emergency academic meeting.
