Information Minister and president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASHOD) Hasanul Haq Inu said on Saturday that Khaleda Zia's tears would not legitimize her for democracy, wash away the anguish of those who were burnt alive, Zia's seizure of power, illegally, military rule, killings and disappearances nor the rehabilitation of Razakars.
Ahead of the 45th founding anniversary of his party, JASHOD, on 31st October, the minister was speaking at a representatives' meeting of the party's Dhaka city unit.
Criticizing the public crying of Khaleda Zia in the court on Thursday, Inu said that in the past BNP had tried to lobby for legitimization for democracy now it was resorting to winning sympathy by crying in public.
He further said without disassociating from the war criminals and killers, without stopping the conspiracy to subvert the upcoming polls, completing the jail sentences for killing people, it was pointless to cry and gain public sympathy.
Inu further said Khaleda Zia was trying to subvert the polls and the biggest challenge facing the nation was to hold a proper election.
