A day-long ICT competition titled ‘Informatics Olympiad-2017’ was held at HURDCO International School in the capital’s Bashundhara Residential Area on Thursday.

HURDCO school management committee vice-chairman Shah Zakir Hossain, managing director SM Mofizur Rahman and head (computer science) Waliullah Taslim were, among others, present on the occasion while its principle Zinnat Ali delivered the address of welcome in the inaugural session of the competition.
The competition includes events digital painting, quiz on ICT and programming contest.
Speaking on the occasion, the daily sun acting editor urged the HURDCO students to follow the teachings of academics for being successful in life.
“It’s an opportunity for me to speak in front of the little plants who are growing in an environment surrounded with abundance of technologies.
I hope you (students) will uphold the nation flag in global stage utilising the learning,” added Enamul Hoque.
He also mentioned the progress of Bangladesh in science as the number of medical students from neighboring countries has been increased rapidly and the government gets foreign currency from the sector.HURDCO vice-chairman Shah Zakir Hossain urged the students to utilise technology for the betterment of people.
Elaborating the abbreviation of HARDCO as Human Resource Development Company, the vice-chairman said the institution is working with an aim to develop a knowledge-based society.
HURDCO principle Zinnat Ali said the school launched ‘science activity room’ alongside the laboratory to flourish ICT knowledge. Several students of the institute have already proven themselves in the international arena”.
Mentionable, HURDCO started the annual co-curricular activity as ICT Fair in 2014 and later renamed ‘Informatics Olympiad’.
