Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested three members of an alleged international drug smuggling syndicate, including its ringleader, from the city's Pallabi area on Monday, reports UNB.
The arrestees are Mir Manzur Morshed Sunny, kingpin of the gang, Mahmudul Hasan Chayan and Habibullah Khan.
Based on secret information, a team of Rab-1 conducted a drive at a flat of a seven-storey building around 5:05pm and arrested them along with 145 bottles of G-Ketamine, 34 white towels each containing 100 grams of G-Ketamine and 180 empty bottles of G-Ketamine.
G-Ketamine is a contraband drug, which is available in pharmacies across the country. Though it is used as anesthesia before surgery, it is also used as drug in many countries, including Spain, said Rab.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees revealed that Sunny is a farm trader and they sent four consignments of G-Ketamine to Spain through courier service in the last two months.
