 ‘Drug peddler’ killed in Ctg ‘gunfight’

A suspected drug peddler was killed in a 'gunfight' with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) at Barisal Colony on Ice Factory road in Chittagong early Friday, reports UNB.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Faruk, 42, a 'top drug peddler' of the port city.

Mimtanur Rahman, senior Assistant Director (media) of Rab-7, said a Rab team conducted a drive at Barisal Colony to recover drugs around3am.Sensing their presence, drug peddlers opened fire on the elite force members, forcing them to retaliate, triggering the gunfight.


During the gunfight, Faruk was caught in the line of fire and suffered a bullet. He died on the spot.


The elite force recovered three pistols and 2 lakh pieces of Yaba pills from the scene.

Faruk's body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
