Bogra couple stabbed dead over land dispute

A young couple was stabbed to death at Chakkatali Tetultala village in Gabtali upazila on Thursday night reportedly following a dispute over the ownership of a piece of land.

The deceased were identified as Jillal Hossain, 32, son of Madhu Pramanik, and his wife Bulbuli Begum, 22, of Chakkatali Tetultala village, UNB reports.

Police said Jillal had long been at loggerheads with his neighbour Arman Hossain Ghetu over the ownership of the land piece.

On Thursday night, Jillal locked into an altercation with Arman over the issue.

At one stage, Arman stabbed Jillal and his wife Bulbuli with a knife, leaving the couple severely injured, said officer-in-charge of Gabtali Police Station Khairul Bashar.

Jillal succumbed to his injuries on the way to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital while Bulbuli died at the hospital around 9pm, he said.
