Japan lauds Bangladesh for sheltering refugees

Newly-appointed Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Hiroyasu Izumi on Tuesday said his government has appreciated Bangladesh’s efforts to provide humanitarian relief for Rohingyas.


He made the complimentary statement on the assumption of his ambassadorship by presenting his credentials to President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban in the capital.


Citing since the end of August 2017, unprecedented number of Rohingyas have fled to Bangladesh from Myanmar, the Japanese ambassador said, “I visited the Rohingyas camp near the border, and people there are in a difficult situation and they need the international humanitarian assistance immediately.”
