5 of a Bangladeshi family killed in Kuwait fire

Five members of a family in Moulvibazar have been killed in a fire erupted from explosion of a compressor of an air-conditioner at a residential building in Salmiya area of Kuwait city.

 

The deceased were identified as Rokeya Begum, 50, wife of Juned Miah, their two sons - Fahad, 18, and Emad, 5, - and two daughters - Jamila, 14, and Namila, 6,- hailing from Kandigaon village of Kamalganj upazila of the district, UNB reports.

 

Family sources said the fire broke out when a compressor of an air-conditioner exploded at their residential building around 5:00 pm (Bangladesh time) on Monday, leaving five of them dead on the spot.

 

However, Juned Miah was out of the home during the blast.

 

Juned along with his wife and four children had been living in Kuwait for 15 years, said Jainal Abedin, a neighboor of his native village.

 

The bodies were kept at mortuary of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital of the city.

 

Bangladeshi Ambassador to Kuwait SM Abul Kamal visited the hospital and expressed his deep condolence at their deaths.
