BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will return home from London on October 18.
“Khaleda Zia will return home on October 18,” Shyrul Kabir Khan, member of BNP chairperson’s press wing, told the daily sun on Saturday.
BNP sources said she is scheduled to leave London for Dhaka by a flight of Emirates Airlines on October 17 night (London time) and arrive in Dhaka around 5:40pm on Wednesday.
Earlier, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said Khaleda Zia is likely to return home from London this week.
Talking to reporters at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in the capital on Saturday, Fakhrul said, “I’m telling you that she [Khaleda] is coming home very soon. I hope that she will come this week.”Sources inside the BNP said Khaleda Zia is taking preparation for returning home as she has already missed several possible dates of her homecoming.
The BNP chairperson went to the UK on July 15 for medical treatment as well as unofficial meetings with the party’s second-in-command, her elder son Tarique Rahman, who has been staying in London for long.
Although BNP faced a number of important issues such as flood, the apex court verdict on the 16th amendment to the constitution, Rohingya crisis and party’s organisational crises, its chief did not return home to face the situation.
