A 14-member delegation of the Jatiya Sangsad left here on Thursday to participate in the 137th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly to be held in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah is leading the Bangladesh parliamentary delegation at the IPU conference to be held on October 14-18.
The delegation will strongly place the Rohingya issue in the assembly, said a Parliament Secretariat handout.
Besides, the parliamentary team has preparation to call on the IPU member countries to create world opinions to force the Myanmar government to take effective measure to resolve the Rohingya crisis.
An emergency item was included in the assembly agenda to strengthen IPU effort to end humanitarian crisis and persecution of Rohingyas in Myanmar, the handout added.
The 136th IPU assembly was held in Dhaka in April last.
The delegation members include Chief Whip ASM Feroz, Whip Atiur Rahman Atik, MPs Abul Kamal Azad, ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, Moin Uddin Khan Badal, Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury, Kazi Firoz Rashid, Dr Md Habibe Millat, Pankaj Nath, Fazle Hossain Badsha, Waseqa Ayesha Khanam, Sabina Akter Tuhin and Mamunur Rashid Kiron.
Besides, the delegation is accompanied by six officials, including Senior Secretary of Parliament Secretariat Dr Md Abdul Rob Howlader.
