Thunderbolt kills six in Dinajpur

Six people, including two housewives, were killed and seven others injured in three separate incidents of lightning at different places in Dinajpur districts Saturday. 

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Biral Thana Abdul Mazid said four persons were killed on the spot and seven others injured after lightning struck a small shelter of fishermen in village Purbo Raja Rampur under Biral upazila of Dinajpur around 1.30 pm, reports BSS.

"The deceased persons are housewife Banita Rani Roy, 30, and Kushu Roy, 17, of village Purbo Raja Rampur under Biral Upazila and Messer Ali, 35, and Sukur, 45, of village Mohadebpur under Kotwali Thana of Dinajpur," he said. The injured persons were admitted to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital.

Besides, minor boy Hridoy, 12, was critically burnt by lightning in village Mokhlespur in the same upazila and he succumbed to his injuries on the way to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital this afternoon, OC Mazid added.

In another incident, housewife Halima Khatun, 30, and a cow were killed when thunderbolt struck Halima's house in village Chas Rampur under Chirirbandar upazila in Dinajpur, said OC of Chirirbandar Thana Haresul Islam. 

The bodies were handed over to their relatives, police said.
