Four people including a school girl, were killed and five other people including four students were injured in separate road accidents in Satkhira, Bagerhat and Chuadanga districts on Thursday, reports UNB.
In Satkhira, a farmer and a private company employee were killed in separate accidents in Sadar upazila.
The deceased was identified as the farmer Alauddin, son of Ismail Hossin of Tujulpur village and Nasirul Islam, son of Rupchand Gazi, hailing from Ashashuni upazila and the salesman of a mineral water company.
Maruf Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said that a truck from Jessore hit Alauddin while he was crossing an intersection of Tujulpur bazar around 1pm, leaving him dead on the spot.
Besides, a truck hit a human hauler (locally named as Nasimon) carrying Nasirul in Nobatkati area while he was going to Bhomra land port for supplying water around 11am, leaving him dead on the spot, the OC added.
In Bagerhat, one schoolgirl was killed and four of her fellow students plus their school-van driver were injured as a bus hit a school van in Gazir Brdige area of Sarankhola upazila around 9:30am.
The deceased was identified as Sumaiya Akhter, 11, daughter of Abdul Awal, resident of Nalbunia village and a class V student of Nalbunia Government Primary School.
The injured were Rabi, Mohosin, Rahim, and Badsha, students of the same class and the van driver Elius Talukder, 20.
Md Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge of Sarankhola Police Station, said that the bus hit the van carrying five students while they were going for appearing a model test examination, leaving Sumaiya dead on the spot.
In Chuadanga, Niharun Nesa, 75, wife of khelamat Mandal, resident of Choto Gangni village of the Alamdanga upazila, were killed as a human hauler (Alamsadhu) hit her while she was standing near a road adjacent to her house, leaving her critically injured.
Later, she was rushed to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
