Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has said the government has no relation with the summer vacation of the judges, including the Chief Justice.
He came up with the remarks on Friday after inaugurating a children’s painting competition at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University marking the birth anniversary of Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib and Sheikh Kamal.
Replying to a query from reporters whether the upcoming long vacation of the Chief Justice has any relation with the government, Inu said the judges' summer vacation is a regular exercise of the judiciary and it is not related to any government decision, reports UNB.
Mentioning that the Chief Justice fueled the debate on the 16th amendment, he said SK Sinha will be welcomed if he steps down to resolve issue and uphold the image of the judiciary.
Inu said the government is scrutinising the legal process for the review of the ‘faulty and unacceptable’ judgment.
Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, wife of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was born on August 8, 1930 and Sheikh Kamal, their eldest son, was born on August 5, 1949.
