Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina tonight expressed deep shock at the death of former Awami League lawmaker and valiant freedom fighter Advocate Khan Tipu Sultan.
In a condolence message, the prime minister recalled his invaluable contributions to the politics as well as the Liberation War.
"The nation has lost an eminent politician and a valiant freedom fighter, while the Awami League has a lost a dedicated leader in his death," she said.
Sheikh Hasina prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
Tipu Sultan who was on the life support for three days died at the Central Hospital in the city tonight at the age of 68. He was admitted to the hospital after suffering a stroke.
Tipu Sultan was elected MP thrice from Jessore-5 (Monirampur) constituency on Awami League ticket in 1991, 1996 and 2008.
