Former Awami League MP Khan Tipu Sultan passes away

Former MP and Awami League leader Freedom Fighter Khan Tipu Sultan passed away at 9:30 pm on Saturday night. He was 68.

 

He was in life support at the Central Hospital in Dhaka. His son Humayun Sultan confirmed his death.

 

He is survived by his wife and two sons to mourn his death, family sources said.

He was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Central Hospital as he suffered a stroke three day ago. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her profound shock at the death of valiant freedom fighter and former AL lawmaker Advocate Khan Tipu Sultan.

Khan Tipu Sultan was elected MP thrice from Jessore-5 constituency on Awami League ticket in 1991, 1996 and 2008. 

His first Namaz-e-Janaza will be held at the south Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad tomorrow at 11 am, second one on the premises of the Supreme Court after Zohr prayers, third one at Jessore town after Asr prayers and fourth one at Monirampur after Magrib prayers. 

Later, he will be buried at his native Dhamalia village under Dumuria Upazila of Khulna district.
