Suspected militant Saiful Islam, who was killed in an anti-militant drive at Hotel Olio International in the city on Tuesday, died in explosions, according to a physician.
Talking journalists after conducting postmortem on Saiful's body at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue on Wednesday, Sohel Mahmud, head of its Forensic Medicine Department, said bomb explosions caused his death.
Suspected 'Neo JMB' militant Saiful reportedly blew himself up detonating bombs in room No 301 of the residential hotel at the city's Panthapath during the anti-militant drive of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, reports UNB.
The CTTC had secret information that the militants were planning to commit acts of sabotage at Dhanmondi 32 in the capital during the August 15 rally.
It located militants' presence at Hotel Olio International in Panthapath and cordoned off the four-storey building in the early hours of Tuesday.
