Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim on Wednesday urged all to stand by the flood affected people.
The minister made the call while addressing a discussion as chief guest at National Academy for Educational Management (NAEM) auditorium in the city, BSS reports.
The 149th Foundation Training Crouse organised the discussion marking the National Mourning Day with NAEM Director General Professor Hamidul Haque in the chair.
Nasim said, "We have to continue relief operation at our own initiatives in the flood affected areas and we should extend our hands of cooperation to them."
"I have also given order to the director general of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) to send medical teams and medicines to the flood affected areas," the minister said.
About the next election, Nasim said, "I hope that all political parties including BNP will take part in the next election... We will accept the peoples' verdict."
Praising government initiatives for combating militancy in the country, Nasim said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had controlled militant activities with an iron hand.
