Retired Army Major Ziauddin Ahmed, a sub-sector commander during Bangladesh’s Liberation War, has passed away.
He breathed his last at Singapore General Hospital on Friday, his elder son Zakir Uddin has confirmed.
Ziauddin, who was a witness in Bangabandhu killing case, had long been suffering from liver disease. He was admitted at Square Hospital in the capital in a critical condition on July 1.
He was shifted to Singapore General hospital on July 12.
Ziauddin was the Sundarbans sub-sector commander under the Sector 2 during the Liberation War.
Major Ziauddin was born at Parerhat village in Pirojpur. He was also a writer and a journalist.
