The namaz-e-janaza of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) intelligence chief Lt Col Abul Kalam Azad, was held after jumma prayer at Dhaka Cantonment in the capital on Friday.
After janaza, the body of Abul Kalam was taken to Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) headquarters at 3:00pm.
He will be buried at Banani military graveyard in the capital.
Abul Kalam died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) early Friday.
Mufti Mahmud Khan, director of Rab's legal and media wing, said doctors declared him dead around 12:00am.
Col Azad was bullet injured on last Saturday in an anti-militant operation at Atia Mahal of Dakkhin Surma Shibbari area.
In the operation, two cops among six people were killed.
Earliar, the Rab official was taken to Osmani Medical College Hospital from where he was shifted to Combined Medical College Hospital (CMH).
Later he was taken to Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. Two days after, he was brought back home as per the doctors suggestion, said Mufti Mahmud. Azad was admitted to CMH again around 8:00pm on Wednesday after his return from Singapore.
Abul Kalam was born in Shibganj of Chapainawabganj district in 1975. He studied in English under National University and finished BMA long course of 34th batch in 1996. He joined Rapid Action Battalio-12 (Rab-12) as a Company Commander in 2011. In the same year, he got promotion as assistant director of detective branch of Rab. Later he was become derector of the same department in 2013.
He left behind wife, two sons and one daughter.
