5 burnt  in Demra gas cylinder explosion

 

Five workers of a restaurant ‘Red Chilly’ were burnt in a fire that broke out from a gas cylinder at Monibagh area in Demra in the capital on Wednesday morning.

 

The fire was originated from the gas cylinder leakage.

 

The victims are identified as Faruk, 42, Chan Mia, 35, Harun, 50, Billal Hossain, 50, and Felani, 18.

 

The victims were taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Sub-inspector Bachchu Mia of DMCH police outpost.

 

Among the injured, Faruk suffered 66 percent burn injuries while Chan Mia 57 percent and Harun received 14 percent burn injuries.

 

The two other victims Billal and Felani took first aid treatment at the burn unit.

 

The fire was doused when the cylinder became empty.
