Today is the 100th birth anniversary of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin.
Cultural Affairs Ministry organizes year-long programmes in different divisional cities and districts across the country to mark the day.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the year-long programme at National Museum auditorium in the capital at 3pm.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor told this at a press conference at Shilpakala Academy Chitrashala Bhaban here yesterday.
The ministry officials and employees will place wreaths at the grave of Zainul Abedin adjacent to Dhaka University central mosque today in the morning.
Noor said Bangladesh Shilakala Academy, Bangladesh National Museum and Mymensingh organize different programmes marking the day.
Shilpakala Academy has organized three-day Zainul fair, folk music and artist camp.
An art exhibition of the students who accompanied Zainul Abedin will also be organized by the academy.
Later, Shilpakala Academy of different district will exhibit the art across the country.
A memorial stamp, memorial book and a supplementary will be published in national newspaper. Two posters, designed by artists Samarjit Roy Chowdhury and Hasem Khan, have been printed.Month-long folk fair will be organized at Sonargaon Lokshilpa Museum in Narayanganj from January 11. Born on December 29 in 1914 at a village in Kishoreganj, Zainul Abedin grew up to be a famous painter of the contemporary period.
