Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Thursday released the itinerary for the home series against Bangladesh.
They will host Bangladesh for the first time in nine years to open what is set to be a bumper 2017-18 summer, although their opponents for the Christmas-New Year period are yet to be confirmed.
The Bangladesh team, which is set to tour South Africa between September and October 2017, will play two Tests, three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and two Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). This is the first time Bangladesh will be touring South Africa since November 2008 for a Test series. The two sides have played four Tests in South Africa, with the hosts emerging victorious on every occasion.
The series will create opportunity for Bloemfontein and Potchefstroom to host their first Tests since 2008 and 2002 respectively. The two venues had hosted Bangladesh in those years but have not hosted matches in the longest format since.
“Our scheduling discussions with the BCCI are in progress and we hope to be in a position to announce the fixtures for this tour in the new year,” Haroon Lorgat, CSA CEO said.
