Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed on Thursday asked to the transparency of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) and Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB).
“CPD and TIB are non-government organisations (NGO) and run by foreign funds. Do they have any credibility? Have they ever spoken anything positive about Bangladesh since their inception?”
The minister asked while talking to reporters at the secretariat after a meeting with visiting German state minister for labour and social affairs Jorg Asmussen.
CPD and TIB are trying to defame Bangladesh by sponsoring its negative aspects, the minister alleged.
“The export-import, bank reserve and remittance of the country are increasing day by day (under Awami League rule) but some organisations only see our faults and highlight them before the whole world,” he said.
According to TIB report, the minister said that the income of politicians had increased only but newspaper owners and editors saying that their income did not increase in the country.
“The politicians had to remain silent because they had no newspapers. They cannot write every day (to defend them),” he said.
