A special tribunal here today sentenced three Jamaatul Mujaheedin Bangladesh (JMB) activists to 10 years rigorous imprisonment each seven years after they were arrested from a militant hideout in the hill district.
Court officials said Special Tribunal Judge M Enamul Haque handed them down the sentence as they faced the trial in person under Explosive Act.
The convicts, they said, were also fined Taka 2,000 each and in default they would have to serve two more years in jail.
According to the court proceedings they were arrested from a JMB training camp on September 27, 2009 at Shantipur area of Matiranga upazila along with explosives.
The convicts are Abdur Rahim alias Zahid Hossain of Debiddar upazila in Comilla, Delwar Hossain and Yusuf of Matiranga upazila in Khagrachhari Hill District.
