Suspected robber killed in Laxmipur ‘gunfight’

An alleged robber was killed in a gunfight with police in Uttar Koroya area of Raipur upazila in Laxmipur district early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Delwar Hossain Rajon, son of late Syed Ahmmed. He is accused in three arms and eight robbery cases, reports UNB.

Quoting officer-in-charge of Raipur Police Station Md Lokman Hossain UNB said police arrested listed robber Rajon from the area early Sunday.

Later, police conducted a drive with Rajon in the area around 4am on Monday.

Sensing the presence of police, his cohorts opened fire at them.

In retaliation, the law enforcers also fired back which triggered a gunfight. Rajon was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot.

Meanwhile, five police personnel were injured in the incident.

Police also recovered an LG, three rounds of bullets and three machete from the spot.
