Woman killed ‘by ex-husband’ in C’nawabganj

A woman was chopped to death allegedly by her ex-husband at Choitanayapur village in Shibganj upazila on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Farzana Akhter, daughter of Nur Islam of the village.

Officer-in-charge of Shibganj Police Station Sarwar Hossain said Sumon locked into an altercation with his ex-wife Farzana when he went to her house around 10:30pm on Friday to meet his two-year old son.

At one stage, Sumon chopped Farzana with a sharp weapon indiscriminately, leaving her dead on the spot.

Her mother Delwara and brother Kamaruzzaman were also injured as they tried to save Farzana.

Local people caught Sumon red handed and handed over him to police.

Critically injured Delwara was first taken to a local hospital and later shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital as her condition deteriorated.

Victim’s brother Kamaruzzaman filed a case with Shibganj Police Station in this connection.
