4 held as militant suspects in Sherpur

Police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a joint drive arrested four young people from Hariakona village in Sribordi upazila on Tuesday night for their suspected link to militancy.

The arrestees were identified as Al Momen,20, son of Abdul Khalek and Shariful Alam,22, son of Abdul Hye, both residents of Sadar upazila in Netrakona district, and Shahidul Islam,22, son of Shafiqul Islam, a resident of Chittagong and Shnehashish Ray,21, son of Abinash Chandra Ray, a resident of Dinajpur district, reports unb.

The arrestees were taken to the district Detective Branch of police office for interrogation.

Officer-in-charge of DB police Mahfuzar Rahman said tipped off, a joint team of police and BGB members conducted a raid on the house of one Alamgir at Hariakona village in bordering Sribordi upazila and arrested the four around 9.30pm.
