A man, who was a mason by profession, was found dead at Hamidpur village in Jessore Sadar upazila on Friday, two days after his going missing.
The deceased was identified as Abdullah Masud, 50, a Muslim convert from Hinduism and son of Khagendranath in Paikgachha upazila of Khulna district.
Quoting family members, police said Masud had gone out of his Hamidpur village residence on Wednesday morning and did not return since then.
Locals spotted the body of Masud hanging from a tree on Friday morning and informed police, said Ahidur Rahman, sub-inspector of Chandpara Police Station.
Police sent the body to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
