2 held with 50,000 yaba tablets in city

Members of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested two alleged drug dealers and recovered 50,000 pieces of yaba tablets from Khilkhet area in the capital on Thursday.

The arrested are: Boktar Ahmed, 32, and Md Nur Islam alias Tito, 40.

Quoting sources at the CTTC UNB said a special team of the unit conducted a drive led by its Inspector Biplob Kumar Shill and challenged a private car at Road no-8 of Nikunja-2 in Khilkhet area.

The specialized anti-crime team also recovered the consignment of yaba tablets searching the private car.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrested revealed that they have long been involved in supplying yaba tablets to Dhaka city after bringing the consignment from Teknaf of Cox’s Bazaar district.
