Publisher Tutul murder attempt : Ansarullah man held

Members of Detective Branch(DB) of police today arrested a suspected member of the banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team over the killing attempt on publisher and blogger Ahmed Rashid Tutul.

 

The arrestee was identified as Shihab alias Saiful alias Sumon alias Shakib.

 

Tipped off, a team of  DB police conducted a drive in different areas of capital and arrested Shihab, said Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of DMP.

 

The arrestee was directly involved in the attempt on the life of publisher Tutul, the DC added.

 

Details about the arrest will be informed at a press briefing later.

 

Earlier on October 31 last year, three people, including Shuddhashwar publisher Ahmed Rashid Tutul, were hacked by unidentified assailants at the office of the publishing house in the city’s Lalmatia area.
