Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Thursday proposed enhancing the supplementary duty (SD) on SIM card-related services from 3 percent to 5 percent.
He placed the proposal in Parliament while placing the budget for the next fiscal year.
“In FY 15-16 budget, we’ve significantly reduced the tax on SIM card. This has resulted in the reduction in revenue collection from mobile sectors.”
He mentioned that in order to enhance revenue collection from this sector, he proposed increasing the rate of supplementary duty on SIM card related services from 3 percent to 5 percent.
