The proposed budget today suggested enhanced allowance for wounded and gallantry award winning freedom fighters with Finance Minister AMA Muhith seeking an increased allocation for the Liberation War Affairs Ministry.
“The monthly allowances for all freedom fighters have (already) been raised. The announcement of increased monthly allowances for injured and gallantry-awarded freedom fighters will soon be made,” he told while presenting the budget for the coming fiscal.
Moreover, he said, microcredit was being provided from a revolving fund in addition to imparting self-employment training to insolvent freedom fighters and their dependents while construction of Muktijodhdha Complex in districts and upzilas for rehabilitating the freedom fighters was progressing fast.
For the 2016-2017 fiscal Muhith proposed an allocation of Taka 3,011 crore for the ministry, an amount which is Taka 480 crore more than in the revised budget of 2015-16 year.
Of the total amount, Taka 2,545 crore was sanctioned for the non-development sector and 466 crore for development.
