War crimes accused M Yusuf of Noakhali died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) today. He was 70.
Sources at the DMCH said Yusuf who had been suffering from old age complications breathed his last around 9:15am.
Earlier on October 5 last year, he had been arrested from Laxmipur several hours after the International Crimes Tribunal issued arrest warrants against five Noakhali war crimes suspects for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
On October 6, the tribunal sent Yusuf to jail.
According to the prosecution, nine people were killed in the hands of Amir Ali, Yusuf and one Mansur at three villages in Sudharampur upazila on September 13 during the Liberation War in 1971.
