BSK ‘book reading’ program widened in Cox’s Bazar

Bishwo Shahitto Kendro (BSK) in association with bKash Limited, a leading mobile financial service provider in the country widens the reach of ‘Nationwide Enrichment (Book Reading) Program’ in Cox's Bazar District through bringing seven new education institutions.

 

Md. Ali Hossain, Deputy Commissioner of Cox’s Bazar District handed over the books to the principals of the seven education institutions at a program held at the auditorium of Cox’s Bazar cultural centre recently.

 

The educational institutions are- Cox’s Bazar City College, Bangbondhu Mohila College, Islamia Balika Kamil Madrasa, Almachia Fazil Madrasha, Churtia Senior Alim Madrasha, Moheshkhali Degree College and Ramu Degree College.

 

Saber Sharif, Head of Corporate Affairs of bKash and Sharif Mohammad Masud, Director Bishwo Shahitto Kendro were present at the program.

 

bKash has committed to provide around 35,000 books to Bishwo Shahitto Kendro in 2016 to facilitate the ‘Nationwide Enrichment (Book Reading) Program’ for students.

 

Around 30,000 students from class VI to X of 400 schools are expected to read the books provided by bKash this year.  Under the program, each student will get an opportunity to read 12 to 16 books round the year.  bKash has been associated with the initiatives since 2014 and provided around 34,000 and 30,000 books in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

 

Launched in 2011, bKash, a joint venture of BRAC Bank, US based Money in Motion, World Bank’s  International Finance Corporation and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, offers complete mobile financial services to the common people of Bangladesh.
