Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu today said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is creating confusion over different settled issues including the number of martyrs in War of Liberation to make her Pakistani friends happy.
"Those creating doubt over the number of martyrs during the War of Liberation are Pakistani agents. As part of her plan, Khaleda Zia is launching such a confusion to get favour of Pakistan," he told a discussion in the auditorium of Bangladesh Computer Council here, BSS reports.
ICT Division in cooperation with Directorate of Information and Communication Technology organized the discussion on "Universal utilization of digital technology and War of Liberation" on the occasion of the observance of Victory Day.
State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Executive Director of BCC SM Ashraful Islam, Additional Secretary of ICT Division Partha Protim Dev and heads of different departments of ICT Division, among others, addressed the discussion with ICT Secretary Shyam Sundar Sikder in the chair.
Blasting recent remarks of Khaleda Zia, Inu said, "In a cool head, she (Khaleda Zia) is spreading falsehood on settled issues to undermine the spirit of War of Liberation as part of her job as a Pakistani agent."
"I have not become astonished over such comments of Khaleda Zia as she along with her ally Jamaat is contributing to the agenda of Pakistan to distort and hide the real history of War of Liberation," he added.
"We achieved independent Bangladesh through long struggles ... Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had led the struggles," the information minister said, adding, "Bangladesh and Bangabandhu are synonymous and we can't separate it. If you love Bangladesh, you must have to love Bangabandhu."
Inu said Begum Khaleda Zia had missed twin opportunities -- one is to build democracy and another is to go into information superhighway -- while Sheikh Hasina has very successfully utilized both the opportunities.
"I believe Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will live forever through her visionary announcement of building 'Digital Bangladesh'," he added.
