Talks on dengue prevention held in Sherpur

Bashundhara Shuvosangho’s Nakla upazila unit on Wednesday held a discussion meeting at Sherpur Government Polytechnic Institute to raise public awareness about dengue prevention and stop the breeding of Aedes mosquitoes.
Around 70 students attended the programme, where leaflets on dengue prevention were also distributed.
During the discussion, Shuvosangho members highlighted the causes of dengue, risks of infection, breeding grounds of Aedes mosquitoes and personal and social responsibilities in preventing the disease.
Shuvosangho Nakla upazila unit President Junayed Ahmed said dengue posed a major public health challenge and stressed the need to prevent Aedes mosquito breeding to control the disease. He also urged everyone to keep their surroundings clean.
Md Al Amin, a student of the institute, said the initiative was timely and instructive, adding that they had learned ways to prevent dengue from the discussion and would try to keep their surroundings clean and make others aware of the disease from now on.
