Bashundhara Shuvosangho on Sunday held a meeting at HDF Learning Center for Special Education in Natore to raise awareness about online safety and cyberbullying among girl children, marking International Day of the Girl Child.
The meeting was attended by girl children, who were informed about different forms of cyberbullying, the risks of online harassment and its harmful effects.
The participants also learned about safe social media use, protecting personal information and maintaining online privacy.
During the meeting, the organisers said girls may face online harassment due to a lack of awareness about digital safety and the risks of social media use, and also advising the participants not to panic or blame themselves if they experience such incidents, but to inform trusted guardians, teachers or other concerned persons.
The organisers also urged the girls to preserve evidence of online harassment and report the incidents to the relevant social media platforms, stressing the importance of being cautious when sharing personal information with strangers and keeping passwords and personal accounts secure.
Local members of Shuvosangho were present at the meeting.
