HSC student becomes Dhaka University VC for a day

A second-year Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) student symbolically took over as the vice-chancellor of the University of Dhaka (DU) for a day on Sunday.
Shital was offered the opportunity to mark the International Day of the Girl Child, observed worldwide on the same day. Plan International Bangladesh, the country office of the international rights organisation Plan International, facilitated the honorary takeover as part of its ‘Girls Take Over’ campaign. During the programme, Shital assumed the role of DU Vice-Chancellor Prof ABM Obaidul Islam and participated in discussions on girls’ education, leadership and rights.
“Education has no alternative, and the time we have now is our most valuable asset. I will carry Sir’s advice and learnings with me. 
Today, I feel even more determined to complete my education and achieve my dreams,” Shital said.
Prof Obaidul Islam emphasised the importance of ensuring equal access to education and opportunities for every girl to pursue her aspirations.
