Renowned novelist Imdadul Haq Milan on Tuesday urged families and citizens to take responsibility alongside city corporations, municipalities, and other authorities to prevent dengue.
The Bashundhara Group adviser and Bashundhara Shuvosangho chief made the call while addressing a public awareness discussion on dengue prevention at the Shuvosangho’s head office in the capital.
Milan stressed the need to identify and remove stagnant water around homes, including in flowerpots, buckets, coconut shells, discarded bottles, tires, and other containers.
“Everyone should develop the habit of removing stagnant water from their homes and surroundings at least once a week,” he said, stressing the importance of awareness in preventing a wider public health threat.
Bashundhara Shuvosangho Director Zakaria Zaman, who chaired the session, highlighted the organisation’s various social and public awareness activities on dengue prevention.
“We are also involving the general public and spreading awareness messages to prevent dengue,” he said.
“A clean home and neighbourhood, along with an aware citizen, can collectively play a vital role in preventing the spread of dengue,” he added.
