3 killed as truck crushes auto-rickshaw in Lalmonirhat

At least three people were killed and seven others injured when a truck crashed into an auto-rickshaw in the Ghunti area of Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat on Monday morning.
The identities of the deceased and injured could not immediately be confirmed. Patgram Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Islam said an auto-rickshaw was travelling towards Patgram from Burimari Land Port. When it reached the Ghunti area, a truck from the opposite direction suffered a mechanical failure and veered into a roadside shop and crushed the auto-rickshaw, leaving two people dead on the spot.
Fire Service personnel from Patgram and local residents rescued the injured and took them to Patgram Upazila Health Complex, where another injured passenger, identified as Mostakin, died.
Five of the injured were referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition, while two others were admitted to Patgram Upazila Health Complex, the OC said.
