Russian citizens living in Bangladesh cast their votes in the election to the ninth State Duma, the lower house of Russia’s Federal Assembly, on Sunday.
The Russian Embassy in Dhaka hosted the polling station, which was open from 8am to 8pm.
Ambassador Alexander Khozin thanked the Russian citizens who came to vote for their active civic engagement.
A photo wall featuring a map of Russia was set up at the Embassy, allowing voters to mark their hometowns after casting their ballots and take commemorative photographs.
Throughout the day, dozens of Russian citizens visited the polling station at the Embassy. Some came with their children, giving them an example of responsible civic participation.
Vyacheslav Sentyurin, minister-counsellor at the Embassy, said everything had gone according to plan.
From 15 to 17 September, early voting for the State Duma election took place at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant construction site. Project employees were able to vote without leaving their workplace. More than 3,500 people exercised their right to vote over the three days.
A total of 319 polling stations were established in 152 countries to give Russian citizens living abroad an opportunity to cast their votes.
