Today a three-week-long group art water colour exhibition titled ‘JOLERDHARA’ will close at Shilpangan Gallery. The exhibition was dedicated to late artist and teacher Zainul Abedin on his hundredth birth anniversary.

JOLERDHARA was an outcome of a national workshop and art camp which was held from November 05-16, 2014 where 120 young artists participated and the workshop was conducted by renowned artists. Total 58 artworks were selected for this exhibition.

Famous water colour painters, namely Samarjit Roy Choudhury, Hamiduzzaman Khan, Biren Shome, Alokash Ghosh, Azmeer Hossain and Shahnoor Mamun, conducted the workshop and their artworks are also on display.

The workshop was held at different places, namely Ramna Park, Karjon Hall, Dhanmondi Lake, Sowari Ghat, National Zoo, Amin Bazar, Buriganga River, Sitalakkha River, Meghna Ghat and Panam Nagar (Sonargaon).

The exhibition was inaugurated by Enam Ahmed Chowdhury, ex-chairman, Privatisation Commission and President, Commonwealth Society Bangladesh on June 13, 2015 with Samarjit Roy Choudhury in attendance.  

It is mentionable that JOLERDHARA is a painters’ association that arranges art camps, workshops, exhibitions and participates in various social activities. JOLERDHARA was formed in 2009 by artist Biren Shome, artist Alokash Ghosh and Shohag Parvez to popularize water colour among the artists and art lovers.
