Glam Up The Makeup Game

Thin eyebrows, loud eye shadows, glittery lipstick and incredibly dark blushes- such was considered ideal party makeup in the 90’s. However, in 2018, all that has changed. Thick, bushy eyebrows are considered more attractive than pencil thin ones. Eye shadows are much more fun now, with dramatic neon accents and serene nude palettes. Lipsticks are less loud and more sublime. It’s like the fashion and makeover scene had turned upside down with everything that used to be considered outré and outrageous are marked as wonderful and aesthetic nowadays. Beauty truly lies in the eyes of the beholder and the more our perceptions change, the more our definition of beauty changes with it. In this perpetual race of trying to look the best, fashion magazines such as Groove play a huge role in putting forward to you the hot and happening things.

Red Eyeshadow

This might have seemed like a Halloween makeover even a few years back. However, red eye-shadows and red eyeliners are so chic at the moment. They give a somber yet lustrous appeal that no other colours can convey. Try red eye-shadow with green or blue eye contacts. Don’t forget to put on double coated mascara.

Thick Eyebrows

Of all the trends that had surfaced recently, this is one you can actually be glad of. It’s not that I (or anyone) like extremely huge eyebrows; it’s just that extremely thin ones also make no sense. For many years, such was the practice. Girls would compete each other on who had the thinner eyebrows, sometimes forgetting that an arch is also important. Thick eyebrows are more natural and closer to our original look. One thing good about the 2018 makeup scene is that most things now are relatively more natural. Nude lips and thick eyebrows are two example of this. Simply brush your brows up, fill in the gaps and add some clear eyebrow gel to keep the effect of an untidy brow.

Dimensional Lip And Lip Art

It’s not just the eyebrows that have grown in sizes over the years. Girls prefer thicker, fuller lips now (perhaps because the pout looks better on selfies). Whatever the reason may be, thick lips are so in this season with women resorting to makeup techniques to make them appear much bigger than they actually are. Some, such as Kylie Jenner, would even opt for injections to make them bigger (and thus be able to put on more Kylie Jenner’s personal branded lipsticks). Fortunately, you don’t need to go that far for that ideal 2018 lip. Most South Asian women’s lips are naturally big in shape. If you are unhappy about the size, you could always accentuate your lips a little broader with lip-liners and then fill in your desired lipstick for the appearance of fuller lips.
