Ganga-Jamuna Natyautsab‘Apod’ staged on day 5→ Sun Culture Desk
As part of the ongoing theatre festival, ‘Ganga-Jamuna Natyautsab’, Dhaka Padatik staged a show of its 35th production ‘Apod’ at Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Wednesday evening.
Adapted from Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s work with the same title, ‘Apod’ has been dramatised and directed Masum Aziz.
‘Apod’ is an account of a lone Sharat Babu who falls in danger during his stay in a farmhouse.
The story of the play zooms in on Sharat and his wife. As his wife becomes ill of a trace-less disease, the doctor suggests him to go to the countryside with his wife. Sharat goes to Chandannagar and starts to live in a bungalow. A stranger, Neelkanta, suddenly appears on a stormy night. After his arrival, strange incidents start happening and this is how the play goes forward.
The play featured Masum Aziz, Masuk Ahmed, Sheikh Shane Maola, Kazi Aminur, Zakaria Kiran, Sabiha Zaman and Tariqul Islam Rudra
in lead roles.
Today, the seventh day of the festival will see two plays of Indian theatre troupe Aneek (Kolkata)’s ‘Lal Ghashe Neel Ghora’ at 4:30pm and ‘Tapati’ at 7:00pm, both at Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
