PM summons SuranjitBriefing today→ Staff Correspondent
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday evening summoned Railway Minister Suranjit Sengupta and held a one-to-one parley following the incident of money scandal involving his aides.

Suranjit went to Gono Bhaban, the premier’s residence, at 9:00pm. He waited at the room of her APS Saifuzzaman Sekhor as the PM was preoccupied with another function.

Later, they held an exclusive meeting.

On Sunday evening, there were widespread speculations about the resignation of the railway minister. The speculation gets louder after the summons by the PM.

Suranjit left Gono Bhaban at 10:30pm and went to his residence direct. He refused to talk to the reporters.

His personal assistant told journalists, “The minister has gone to bed now, but will formally brief reporters about the matter at 12:00pm tomorrow (Monday) at Rail Bhaban.”

After returning from Turkey, cabinet members and senior leaders of the ruling party expressed grievances to the PM over the financial scam.

They demanded action against Suranjit, but many think the incident is the result of a conspiracy.

Another source said as per parliamentary democracy, the PM will discuss the matter with the cabinet members during weekly meeting today and Suranjit will be given a chance to defend himself.
